INTRODUCTION
Greetings! My name is Ivon Cullumber.
I am an engineer by trade.
My formal education is in electronics and software engineering; however, over the last 20 years of my career I have also done a fair amount of work in the mechanical engineering sphere in design, prototyping, and construction of mechanical systems.
Most of my career has been spent working on motion control systems. This includes the development of servo motor and stepper motor electronic controllers, embedded controller firmware, mechanical robotics frames, user interface software controls, and creating documentation – both written and videographic – for the various products that I have worked on.
I am also experienced in Networking and IT. I have set up and maintained data servers for file storage, Internet gateway/firewalls, digital signage, PBX phone servers, SIP phone systems, web servers, and last mile wireless ISP services.
In addition to this I have spent a number of years performing finance and inventory management duties. I know my way around MRP and ERP systems, as well as basic financial statements.
In my down time I enjoy audio recording and engineering. Although, I must say, I don’t have as much time for that as I would like.
SKILLS
Here are a few of the various skills that I have picked up and have used in my professional career, along with a quick indicator of perceived comprehension. This isn’t an exhaustive list, but it highlights the skills that you might find most useful to your business.

PROJECTS
Butler Quilting Automation
Automated quilting robot with servo motor controls. On this project I created the electronic control circuits and programmed the firmware. I designed and produced the case for the unit as well. I was also involved with the programming of the Android based user interface display and all mechanical components that allow the user to install the device on their choice of quilting frame.
PerfectStitch Stitching Controller
I designed the electronics and firmware for a high voltage precision servo motor controller for accurate high speed stitching that is used on A1 Long Arm Quilting Machines, Tin Lizzie Long Arm Machines, Nolting, and more. The PerfectStitch system, as it is known in the industry, is able to be configured to retrofit any long arm quilting machine. The picture above is a Gammill Long Arm Machine that received new life with a stitching controller upgrade. Along with designing the mechanical components that mount and house the electronics and lighting structure I was also involved in programming the Android based user interface controller.
Embark Quilting Automation
The baby brother to the Butler Quilting Automation, the Embark Quilting Automation uses stepper motors to move a domestic sewing machine on a smaller quilting frame. I designed and produced the main control board for this system, along with the physical enclosure and all mechanical apparatuses to attach the device onto the users chosen quilting frame.
HALO Quilting Frame
The HALO Table Top Quilting frame is an entry level quilting frame designed specifically for the domestic sewing machine market. Its compact and space saving design allows the user to set it up on a 5 foot table and still quilt out patterns on any size quilt.
This Website
This website is another example of my skills. Developed with the WordPress toolkit and Elementor.
Part Naming Website/Database
Here is a website that is based on the MediaWiki platform. This platform is most well known as the platform that Wikipedia is built upon; however, it is open source and free for any one to use. The instance above is a self-hosted version of the platform that is dedicated to defining the inventory parts that are used by the company Quilt-EZ. The inventory naming structure was set up to be 12 characters preceded by a hyphen and 3 category defining characters. The page is a one-stop-shop for anyone to search, define, and declare part numbers for the company’s MRP system.
STB Digital Stethoscope
I designed and developed the internal electronics for the Sound The Bell Digital Stethoscope. The board shown above is a Bluetooth enabled audio processor and transmitter. Equipped with two microphones, one for sampling of the audio data and the other for noise cancellation, the STB Digital Stethoscope is able to amplify faint sounds while rejecting unwanted noise and frequencies through the programming and manipulation of an onboard CODEC. Powered by a rechargeable lithium ion battery it is a compact, handheld device. Bluetooth capabilities allow it to be paired with a smartphone for audio recording and visual data representation.
